Lighting lives. Restoring hope.
Agal Wellbeing Services is a registered charity (1202168) dedicated to supporting South Asian families in the UK who are facing domestic abuse and mental health challenges. We provide support in various languages: Bengali, English, Hindi, Malayalam, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Sinhalese and Urdu.
A Light in Difficult Times
When life feels dark, sometimes all you need is a small light that gives a gentle reminder that you are not alone. At Agal Wellbeing Services, we exist to be that light. The word 'Agal' comes from the small oil lamps used across South Asian homes that is simple, yet powerful enough to brighten a room. That's what we do for people walking through emotional distress or domestic struggles: bring light, warmth, and safety back into their lives.
We are a UK-based charity offering counselling, domestic abuse support and emotional wellbeing services for South Asian families and individuals. Our goal is simple to create a safe, culturally sensitive space where you can speak freely, be heard and begin to heal.
Understanding You, Your Story and Your Culture
We know that asking for help isn't easy, especially in cultures where silence often feels safer than speaking. You may have been told to "stay strong," to "keep the peace," or to "think of the family."
At Agal, we understand those unspoken pressures. We know what it's like to juggle cultural expectations, family responsibilities and personal pain. We want you to know that seeking support is not a sign of weakness but it's a sign of courage.
Your wellbeing matters.
Your story matters.
And you don't have to carry it alone.
Our Services
Why Agal?
We believe in culturally sensitive care support that respects your background, faith, language, and values. We know that sometimes what you need most is someone who "gets it", who understands what it means to balance tradition and personal wellbeing.
Every conversation with us is:
- Confidential – Your privacy and safety come first.
- Compassionate – We listen without judgment or pressure.
- Culturally aware – We understand your story in context.
A Space for Families to Heal
In South Asian families, love and loyalty run deep but so do expectations, responsibilities, and silence. Sometimes, that silence becomes a wall between loved ones. At Agal, we believe healing families starts with understanding, not blame. We help couples reconnect, parents and children rebuild trust and families learn to communicate with empathy. When one person heals, the whole family grows stronger.
The Journey Toward Healing
Healing doesn't happen overnight. It begins with a single, brave step to reaching out. Maybe you've been thinking about it for a while. Maybe you're not sure what to say. That's okay. You don't have to have everything figured out. You just have to start.
When you contact Agal, you'll be met with kindness, not judgment. We'll listen, support, and help you take things at your own pace.
Our Commitment
Every person who walks through our door or reaches out online is treated with compassion, confidentiality and respect. We don't just offer services; we offer genuine care. Our volunteers and counsellors come from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds, but we share one goal: to bring light where it's needed most.
We cannot prescribe medication or give medical advice, but we can offer the warmth of human connection, the strength of understanding and the light of hope.
